We buy items as close to Mint condition as possible and many will be unplayed and as close to new as you could hope to find. This item is in Excellent condition or better (unless it says otherwise in the above description). We just never see this album in condition such as this and given the quality of the songwriting, is it any wonder they were usually played to death? Not this one though! The vinyl is a high-end excellent, close to tipping into Near Mint with just a few faint scuffs and such little spindle wear that it appears to have only been given a day trip to the turntable. This label design was used for both the first issue (with Big Bear credit) and the second issue (with the Big Bear credit removed). The label features the large swirl logo above spindle and 'VERTIGO' text below. The poly-lined inner is the original with 0170 date to the bottom and aside from a few spots of faint discolouration remains clean & flat. This example appears to have been stored in a poly outer from day one, leaving it a Near Mint example with no discernible sign of wear - a stunning example. The initial pressings were paired with unlaminated sleeves, which typically due to even light wear, tend to change the black to lighter greenish hues. These were withdrawn due to contractual disputes between the band and Big Bear. As mentioned in the main description this has the credit to Jim Simpson/Big Bear Managament on inner gatefold. Originally to be titled War Pigs, changed at the last minute to avoid offending America due to their involvement in the Vietnam conflict. ![]() The Gatefold sleeve designed and photographed by Marcus Keef. The matrix numbers indicating that this copy was among the first pressed are: Contains several of the band's signature songs including Iron Man, War Pigs and the title track, which was the band's only Top 20 hit, reaching number four in the UK charts. The second studio album by the English heavy metal, released on the 18th September 1970, it was the band's only LP to top the UK Albums Chart until the release of 13 in 2013.
